I'll be on vacation this week but I will still have posts scheduled each morning. If you leave me comments it may take a while to reply back since I will be on a beach and all =D
Demand in all markets just blew up this last week. I've sold all of my eternal fires which was originally over 600 in stock, sold 100 netherweave bags, 30 frostweave bags, and sold off my 20k I had invested in raw epic gems. I am really tapped now. My existing stockpile is what I was holding back for cataclysm. I am going to have to work extra hard when I come back from vacation to rebuild those supplies.
Last night I got accused of being a bot on the auction house. When I proved I wasn't with my competitor I struck up a friendly conversation with him. He complained to me about a couple other competitors which I agreed were annoying. It seems like they are online 24/7 and are constantly camping the auction house. How do you kill that which has no life? I usually just undercut the hell out of them to piss them off. Screw em. When this happens for example last night, I had certain gems selling for 180 to 200g but I was constantly undercut for 1 copper by this other competitor. I got agressive and started posting my gems for 110 gold just to frustrate them. I wasn't going to sell any gems with all the undercutting but this way I will be making plenty of profit since I can get the gems so cheap and force my competition out of the market. This auction house camper wouldn't even dare to undercut me after I did this. I felt very satisfied to say the least after knowing I won the battle. Bottom line, don't take shit from these auction house campers.

Weekly Update 6-29
Coming off one of my best weeks yet I am a bit displeased because I am going on vacation tomorrow and will likely miss out on the Ruby Sanctum madness. Yes, displeasure because I will be sitting on a beach drinking adult beverages and enjoying my time in the sun. I know you feel my pain right? =D
So lets get right to it, here are the numbers!
Jewelcrafting 14,000g
Tailoring 1,600g
Enchanting 2,000g
Pets 300g (My stock is gone and I was lazy...didn't restock. Bad Jay! =p )
Auction House flipping 8,800g
Total Sales = 26,700g
Total Liquid = 38,600g
Total Invested = 12,000g
Total Assets = 50,600g
I'm not sure what was happening but everything was selling so quickly over the last 5 days it was just pure madness. I was reposting gems every 30 mins, I think players are getting their gems now so they were ready for new gear for Ruby Sanctum. There has been so much spam in the trade with people looking for JCs I easily made a couple hundred gold just making cuts for people.
Here's another staggering number...I sold over 400 eternal fires over the weekend. I am still baffled at this weird demand for fires. Normally I would sell 20 to 60 over an entire weekend not 400... My entire stock of fires are gone. I purchased all these fires weeks ago for 9 to 15 gold each. Dirt cheap prices indeed! The lowest I sold any eternal was 21g but the majority sold for 28 to 33g!!
I didn't have time last night to setup quick auctions and sell the nearly 300 glyphs I made. I was running arena all night, 3v3 and 5v5, my eyes hurt so bad by the end of the night 0.o
I just entered enchanting markets and had some success. It's very new to me but it's also helping that I am getting a lot of enchanting mats from running chain heroics. I really didn't mess with alchemy for whatever reason, guess I was too entertained with all my gem sales.
I am currently leveling a lock that will be a skinner and miner. Be some nice profits while leveling plus the mining is going to come in real handy later.
Thanks for checking in!

Hard Work Pays Off
I'm going to talk today about why there is no get rich scheme in WoW and risking buying gold is just dumb. Hard work is the key to making gold in WoW, you have to invest time to level professions, build stockpiles, and craft items. Sounds a lot at real life right? Well it is. Now I'm not saying that you should not eat, sleep, or go outside and get some sun either. Gold making and WoW economics should be fun for you, if it isn't then stick to the minimum gold making strategies to help you upgrade your shiny purples.
I for one love making gold, getting into bidding wars, building stockpiles, driving my competition out of markets, and eventually enjoying the gold I build. There is so many aspects of gold making and the hate mail I receive from competition just makes me smile.
I've read on other blogs about huge days these other players have had and I always wondered when I would be able to pull it off. It really came down to me building a large stock pile and demand for markets this weekend blew up. Between alchemy, tailoring, jewelcrafting, and enchanting I raked in 12k out of my mail box! Most days I usually only made 3k gold on average because I was limited by my professions and the amount of time I had to play. I hope you see the real value of building stockpiles and how they can help you make some serious gold. Never running out of supply is the key to keeping your revenue streams alive all the time.
On a side note, I power leveled inscription last night and it cost me about 1.5k gold to level it. Although I made around 270 glyphs that I plan on setting up within quick auctions tonight and posting them all. I am really excited to jump into glyph markets! I will share all the details soon.

Why it's Critical to have a Stockpile
I felt that it was only honorable to talk about stockpiles since the master himself, stockpile, has called it quits on his blog.
Looking towards ruby sanctum I have invested heavily in a jewelcrafting stockpile. I've built up a stock worth around 20k so I should be able to own the markets once ruby sanctum is released. I was concerned that my competition was trying to build a stockpile but I believe they have been cutting and posting their gems as soon as they get them. They are still posting 4 to 5 gems up of each cut at a time. I think I will be the only JC that will be able to meet this incoming demand.
As far as Cataclysm is concerned I have 140 netherweave bags but only 24 frostweave bags. I am going to start focusing on my frostweave bag stockpile this next week. I really want to go in with over 200 netherweave bags because I think thats where the largest demand will be.
When building a stockpile it is critical to make friends with farmers and get the lowest prices possible for your stock. This will allow you to own your competition by making deep undercuts and driving them out of the market.
A stock pile can NEVER be big enough. You never want to run out of supply.

Mistakes and Some AH Flipping
I never really share the mistakes I've made in the past with all of you so I thought it would be good to show my failures and the learning experiences I've had.
I always heard that flipping battered hilts was really good profits depending on the going price of course. On my realm I had always seen hilts going for 12 to 13k on the auction house. When I obtained my first 12k gold I decided I wanted to give this a shot, so I found a hilt for 10k in the auction house. I thought to myself, "this is great! I can resell this hilt and make at least 1.5k profit." Well I was wrong, weeks went buy and I still had this hilt. All of sudden it seemed that I was competing against 5 other players with hilts that were constantly undercutting each other. Even when posting in trade channel all the offers I received were for 6 to 8k gold.
I became frustrated and figured that I could be making much more gold right now if I had the majority of that gold back to make investments in my stock piles. So I finally received an offer for 9k gold and I took the loss. It worked out because I did in fact make much more gold because I re-invested that 9k into professions and stock piles and made returns very quickly. So I learned my lesson and I have since successfully flipped battered hilts but it's only when I find great deals for around 6 to 8k gold. This was a perfect example why you shouldn't always trust auction house prices.
Any who, I've been having really great success flipping epic blacksmithing plans. I have found soo many plans of late that have very low minimum bids. I have been making amazing profits from 500 to 1000 gold on each plan. My eternal fire market finally returned and I've been making a killing this week selling fires for 22 to 32 gold each! Most of the eternals in my stock pile I only paid 9 to 15 gold for.

Bidding Wars
This is a little technique that does require a little luck. Occasionally I will post an item for cheap with no buyout. Now I will do this when there is a very limited supply of said item. Now this requires camping the auction house with an alt toon, when fellow auctioneers do their scans they will bid on these low cost items because they are going to see a 50% difference in value with current prices in their auctioneer scan.
Once they bid on the item I will continue bidding with my alt toon, they almost ALWAYS keep bidding against me almost immediately. They will continue clicking the bid button and before they know it they have will have the item's bid up really high where it will be profitable for me! I don't do this often but if you want to have some fun this is really entertaining.

Weekly Update 6-23
I've been super busy this week with work and my girlfriend does tend to keep me busy here of late. =D So that being said I really only posted auctions for jewelcrafting and vanity pets. I did not post anything for tailoring, alchemy, or enchanting.
Here's the numbers,
Jewelcrafting 4800g
Vanity Pets 600g (Sold my remaining stock, need to replenish)
Auction House Flipping 1400g
Total Profits 6800g
Total Liquid 20k
Total Invested 20k
Total Loaned to Guild 4.5k
Total Assets 44.5k
Not bad considering I only played 3 nights this last week. I invested 8k this week on epic uncut gems trying to build up my stockpile for Ruby Sanctum. I am actually glad that it did not launch yesterday so I have even more time to build my stockpile.
I am going to really dive into enchanting markets this weekend so that should be interesting and I am thinking of going transmute spec for some guaranteed easy gold on my alchemist.
I was getting irritated last night with the servers not coming up till late last night. My realm was the very last realm to be brought online, and I am not exaggerating. Not that I couldn't find something else to do but I have limited time to play the auction house so that was valuable gold not coming in.
My guild ran Naxx 10 last night for the weekly but we also did a full clear for shards. We were also going for the undying title and cleared all the bosses except the military quarter. Just our luck, the Razuvious fight bugged...one of the adds you mind control disappeared at the beginning of the fight. Literally *POOF*, so needless to say the offtank could not handle 38k hits and died. We didn't wipe because we burned him so fast. I was so frustrated but oh well it's just a title.

Competing For Stock Piles
There has been heavy competition lately on my realm with 4 players attempting to pull off big sales next week with Ruby Sanctum in the epic gem market. I figured I was dealing with some clowns on my realm and was expecting them to just keep cutting their lower supplies come next week. See I know these guys don't carry huge stock piles because I can undercut them all day and win. They don't have the stock to keep undercutting me, they have to continually cancel their existing auctions and repost.
So competition on raw gems has been brutal since they are actually trying to build up a large stock. They have been posting heavily in trade asking to buy cheap gems which has limited the supply available to me. Of course I have one major advantage, I can log in around 8am and buy up all the cheap gems that were posted over night. If you are able to login when you wake up in the morning, before work or school, do it. There is so much posted over night and the demand for gems in the overnight hours is low.
Now I have received nasty whispers from my competition because I will blatantly pay more for gems in my trade chat postings than they are. They will post ridiculous payout prices for gems, like 65g for a Cardinal Ruby. I will easily post 70 to 85g because I still know I am going to make huge profit per gem. So you might be thinking, well they can beat you in the undercutting war if they can buy gems that cheap but here's the thing, they can't. If I am winning the supply war they will not be able to meet the incoming demand of Ruby Sanctum which in turns makes me the eventual winner since I will be able to meet that demand.
It's all about quantity when it comes down to next week. I will be able to make much more gold just because of the large stock pile I am selling off. I am very excited to see Ruby Sanctum launch, markets are going to be interesting for sure!
If you are curious about the weekly update, I will be making that post tomorrow so stay tuned =]

WoW Economics
The other day I was explaining to a co-worker, who doesn't play WoW, about how you make gold in WoW. Now this person plays final fantasy and other rpg style games. What amazed them was how similar wow economies are to real life capitalist economics.
For example, there is basic supply and demand. Depending on the amount of competition prices vary server to server. One server may have almost no competition on belt buckles or BS cratable epics, which in result drives prices up to meet demand. If you can find the right niche on your realm you can make some serious gold. The same supply and demand curves we use in the real world can be used in WoW. Pretty cool right? Heck there is even market manipulation, my post a few days ago about market resets is a great example. Buying up all the existing supply of an item, limiting that supply, and creating a higher price that players will still be willing to pay.
What's amazing is we even see absurd inflation in WoW, it has become overly easy to make gold in WoW. Even blizzard became concerned with the economics on their own realms. They implemented purchasable items to help curve this inflation by trying to take some of this gold out of the economy. This can be seen in haris pilton epic bags, vanity pets, epic flying, cold weather flying, & travelers's mammoth.
This is what fascinates me about WoW beyond just gold making.

Farming Stratholme as an Enchanter
I've been running Stratholme a lot for Baron's mount but I also have been making some pretty good gold while I'm at it too. Running it for an hour you can easily make 250 to 300 gold just off drops, that doesn't even add in disenchanting greens and blues.
The blues and greens in this instance disenchant into [Large Brillant Shard], [Greater Eternal Essence], and [Illusion Dust]. Here are the prices on my realm, shards 7g, essences 25g, and dust 3g. So a stack of dust goes for 60g! These enchanting mats are critical for leveling enchanting and twink enchants, that's why prices are still very solid on these old world mats.
You can easily make 500 to 600 gold per hour in Stratholme all while trying to get a mount too!
I'll let you in on another little secret on these enchanting mats, do a search on the auction house for weapons that can be used between level 51-55. You are looking for uncommon greens that sell for under 10g. Buy all of these up because they have a higher chance to disenchant into [Greater Eternal Essence]. For example, just this morning I purchased a few green weapons that sold for 5 to 6g. They disenchanted into 6 [Greater Eternal Essence]! That's a 130g profit after what I spent!

I Have All This Gold...Now What?
So you have amassed a fortune, let's say at least 100k. What was the point of making all that gold if you are not going to enjoy it? It's just like real money, you can't take it with you to the grave.
My plan is to spend a good deal of my money when cataclysm comes out on such items as vanity items, mounts, and gear. But let's look at the biggest area you should be spending your gold on, epic gear upgrades either from BoE drops or crafting. With all the craze of gear score you need to have the highest gear score you can get just to have any chance of joining a raiding guild or PuG raid.
Gear score can be a great tool when used correctly, such as determining what content a player has seen quickly and also creating a higher opportunity of bigger DPS and HPS. We all know gear does not equal skill but that doesn't stop elitism where raid leaders are only looking for ridiculous gear scores for easy content.
With that being said my plan is to immediately buy or craft all the epic gear that is easily available when Cataclysm launches so I can have a high gear score and not have much worry when it comes to gear score requirements. Gear Score is here to stay so I might as well try my best to use the system to my advantage.

Weekly Update 6-15
Well I have made some deep investments this last week. I have gone from 30k liquid gold to 10k. I made heavy investments in epic raw gems, netherweave and frostweave bags, eternal fire, and herbs. I also loaned 4k to my arena partner so he could get shadow's edge, which I will make interest off of. I am trying to stock up on gems for Ruby Sanctum.
I played for 3 nights this week and here were my profits,
Auction House Flipping - 7k (Flipped two epics, several orbs, eternals)
Jewelcrafting - 6k
Vanity Pets - 500g (Didn't invest time to restock)
Tailoring - 600g (I didn't sell many bags since I am stock piling for Cata)
I think I am going to make another bank alt tonight, I am just running out of space with all the stock piling. I was able to power level alchemy last night to 300 fairly easy and I am going to power level inscription by the end of this week as well. My enchanting is maxed but I have been buying dream shards this week so I can obtain all the enchanting plans.
I think by next week I will be cranking out glyphs, flasks, and enchants! I am very excited to see how much gold I will be earning with 4 crafting professions and herbalism.

Herbalism Finally Leveled
I was finally able to put the time in to get herbalism leveled, real life has been busy as of late, but I wanted to make a comment about the leveling guides I used.
Since Tarou's website is so popular I figured I would give his herbalism leveling guide a shot. I'd have to say that his herbalism guide was bad and left me frustrated at the amount of time it was taking. Now I'm not here to bash Tarou but I do hope that he makes adjustments to his herbalism guide.
What I noticed was he informs you to leave zones way to early and enter zones where there is only 1 plant that you can gather. This forces you to run around for hours hoping this one plant will spawn. For what should be able to be leveled in a day or two takes much longer with his guide. Normally you should be able to enter a new zone and gather 2 to 4 plants which greatly increases your leveling speed.
I ended up switching to wow-professions.com's guide on herbalism which was much better. It is much more accurate at informing you how long you need to stay in a zone. Their guide isn't perfect but it won't leave you frustrated like Tarou's guide.
Now it's time to power level Alchemy and Inscription!

Making Gold as a Lender
Ok this method only works with people you trust and even at that this is a higher risk than anything else in WoW gold making. I have a group of friends that I have made in WoW and we have been playing for about 4 years together. These guys have became more than just online guildies, we have actually met in real life on various trips over the years. On top of that I have 10+ real life close friends that play WoW and are in our guild.
Besides myself only two of my friends know how to make constant revenue streams in WoW so we are always wealthy. The others are always broke. What happens is there is always someone wanting to loan money to purchase new gear, to get their gear score up, or for leveling professions. I lend gold to these friends or guildies and they pay me back with interest. Depending on the amount I lend it could be a charge of 500 to 1000 gold. I never lend more than 5k to a player, usually for epic flyers, but anything higher than that I doubt they will pay back. I allow them to make installment payments as well.
If you think this is something you can do within your guild with people you trust then this may be another way to create a revenue stream for yourself.

Running Old Raid Instances for Gold
This is something my guild does for fun every once in a while. For example, we will 5 or 10 guildies to run Black Wing Lair or AQ for the achievements and gold. It takes us about an hour to clear Black Wing Lair and we each make about 200 gold.
If you are looking for doing something fun in WoW and want to make gold while you are doing it, running old instances is it. Especially if you are new to WoW the last couple years and you missed out on a lot of old content, this is a great way to see old content and make some coin while you are at it.
I used to solo the 60 version of Onyxia back before the 80 version came out and prior to the gold drop hotfix blizzard implemented. With my paladin I could walk into Onyxia's Lair and kill her in about 12 minutes. You could make around 300+ gold a run with the money and epic items she dropped. Apparantly blizzard doesn't like players making that kind of gold since they hotfixed it after word got out.
Again, is this the quickest way to make money? Heck no, but I'm not some elitist that is telling you how to play the game. I give you real examples of how to make gold and have fun in WoW.

Selling Arena Teams
This is a method I am sharing on how to make some extra gold while having fun pvping. My friend and I love arena and we enjoy playing it, win or lose. We began thinking that we could level up 2v2 teams to 1000 rating and sell them.
Now I am not saying that this is an ultimate method at making gold but being that this is a gold making blog I feel that I should share all aspects of gold making. As much as I enjoy playing the auction house and getting into undercutting wars I also enjoy playing WoW for many other reasons and pvp is one of them.
If you plan on using this method I highly recommend at least getting a full PVP set, like furious through honor, before you attempt to be efficient at leveling teams to 1000.
It is fairly easy, if you have enough gear, to grind a team to 1000 rating in one evening. My buddy and I enjoy arena because we love figuring strategies out. We level teams to 1000 rating and sell teams for 1000 gold. The initial investment for a 2v2 teams is 80 gold so you can split the profit with your partner for 460 gold. Players will gladly pay 1000 gold for an arena team if they want to jump right in without trying to grind out that initial 1000 rating. 1000 rating is the cutoff for players to obtain the same rating as the team they are joining. It's a great way to have fun playing WoW and make money at the same time.

Finding the Big Deal
You've heard of the epic auction house flip. It's kinda like when your buddy tells you how big the fish he caught was but he doesn't have the picture to prove it. These kinda deals are rare but they DO happen. You can make several grand on such deals when they do occur.
The key is patience, you need to be religious with your auction house scanning. I scan every morning and every night before I go to bed. Eventually you are going to find a great deal. I've found a handful over the last month and a half.
But I would like to share with you the best deal I have found so far. This is what I found last night on the auction house, [Crypt Keeper's Bracers].
Here is the screenshot,
As you can see I purchased the bracers for 659g and I immediately posted them back for 6999 gold. Posting them at the known market price which should be fairly accurate since it has seen 45. I am not entirely trusting wowhead which lists it at 9999g. I am fairly certain that said player posted the item for 659g but intended to type 6599 gold. I would be very mad if I made that mistake lol.
Needless to say I was shouting woot! and putting my arms up in victory. This is by far my biggest deal I have found so far. I have found deals where I have made 1 to 3k but over 6k is quiet the steal. So hang in there and stick to your daily scans, the time will come eventually!

Haris Pilton Bags
This was an idea shared to me by a friend on my realm, reselling Haris Pilton's bags. She sells 22 and 24 slot epic bags that can be resold on the auction house.
Here's the items,
[Portable Hole] - 24 slot bag 3000g
["Gigantique" Bag] - 22 slot bag 1200g
Now common sense will tell you not to resell the 22 slot bag since a glacial bag will sell for around 300 to 400 gold. But the Portable Hole can be purchased and resold for 4000g. That's a around a 760 gold profit after auction house fees. There is many players who do not know where the portable hole is from and probably think that it is another crafted item. This is the same mentality that is applied to vanity pets. Players are either lazy or don't know where the pets come from so they buy them off the auction house.

Weekly Update 6-8
Posting Schedule
Wanted to apologize to all of you about the lack of posts over the weekend. I was out of town and was unable to make any posts. Daily posting will resume as normal.
Progress
Well since I was gone the last few days I haven't played much WoW till last night. I've literally only made about 3.5k gold this week since I haven't been able to post as many auctions.
I did see that gem markets started to come back last night close to previous levels of 3 to 4 weeks ago. Eternal fire and life markets crashed so I am buying up all the cheap eternals again. I've noticed this becomes a pattern every 3 weeks with eternals.
I have just over 100 netherweave bags stock piled for when cataclysm comes and only 12 frostweave bags. There was a spike in price on frostweave cloth last week so I haven't had time to farm the cloth. I was fortunate one day where a player posted 800 netherweave cloth stacks for 4g each. I bought all of it up and crafted bags out of it. It was the rock bottom prices I was looking for.
I am very surprised by this 24 hour maintenance window that blizz is currently in. It says it's to prepare for cata but doesn't that seem premature when it's currently in alpha?

Resetting Markets
Once you have built up enough capital you can start to reset lagging markets. This is another style of flipping but allows you to drive up prices.
For example, you notice prices of crusader orbs have dropped and there is 10 orbs sitting at 80 to 90 gold. The technique you need to apply is to buy up all of the orbs and repost them for around 130 to 150 gold. You then will make around a 30 to 60 gold profit off each orb.
I did this with eternal life last week where they dropped all the way down to 10 gold. I bought the 15 that were on the auction house and reposted them for 29 gold each. They all sold within three hours.
I've found the best time to do this is during the morning. There isn't going to be a lot of competition so you won't be as likely to get undercut.
I also like doing this when I want to resell my own stock especially when it comes to eternals. Allows me to sell off my stock quickly and make a nice profit.

Working hard on professions
Hopefully by the end of today I will have power leveled a couple professions. It's going to cost me a lot of gold but I am going to make a ton of gold as well. With the epic gem market crashing I need to have more opportunities to make gold.
Developing revenue by gaining herbalism, inscription, and alchemy is really going to make me some serious profits. I noticed that competition is limited in some areas of alchemy but inscription has a lot of competition. I still think some good profits will be made on my realm from inscription even if it's lower profit margins.
So far I've done well by using these methods, jewelcrafting epic gems only, tailoring bags (netherweave & frostweave), flipping on the AH, selling vanity pets, and some farming when I'm bored. The good news is I just maxed out my enchanting last night and I can start selling enchants on the AH. It took a while just because it was so expensive to level. Not that I didn't have the gold but I was investing heavily in eternal fire, life, and raw epic gems.
Since I now have access to a raiding guild and ICC I've considered getting blacksmithing since I have access to ICC plans. But I may have to put that one off while I focus on these other professions.

Weekly Update 6-1
Well here is my total numbers after today,
25,582 gold liquid
20,000 gold worth invested stock
45,582 Total Assets
I am hoping to pull my total assets up to 100k by the time Ruby Sanctum comes out. I really do believe that this bump in demand from Ruby Sanctum is what will help me reach the gold cap.
This weeks results,
Jewelcrafting - 4,500 gold (It's been a down week)
Tailoring - 600 gold (I've been focusing on stocking up for Cata)
Vanity Pets - 500 gold (Obsidian Hatchling has been a hot seller!)
AH Flipping - 4,500 gold (flipped two epics and sold eternals from stock)
Total Profits - 10,100 gold
I had to invest heavily in epic raw gems to compete since most gem markets have crashed. I am only making 10 to 15 gold profits now off each gem.
On vacation this week and working hard on leveling remaining professions.
