WoW Guide: Potion tips for the uninitiated
Tanking Tips has a good (you guessed it) tip for potting up before a raid. They say that you can't use two potions in combat -- or can you? Any potion that relies on a proc to get used up (like an Indestructible Potion) can be downed early, then let the two minute cooldown on potions pass, and then you can drink another potion during the fight. Good deal. You could say that only the highest level

Tips for Rogues in 2v2
An old friend approached me last week with the prospect of playing some 2v2 arena with his mage, who had recently hit level 80. Luckily his rolls are amazingly gifted, and he already had a pretty nice set of gear to play with. I equipped my Sinister Revenge and switched one of my dual specs to Mutilate, and that night we entered the arena to play as one of my favorite comps (behind Rogue+Rogue of

The Daily Quest: Of Titans and Moonkin
Lorecrafted asks an important question: What came first, the Titans or the egg? Wait, I meant Old Gods. Titans or Old Gods.World of Matticus's Sydera takes a close look at healing through Freya in Ulduar. As always, a great resource for healers of all flavors.Sacred Duty is making the most out of Mining in Icecrown, and they're willing to show you how, too!The Druid Team goes where many have

WoW Guide: How to be a professional Warlock
I've been thinking for awhile now that I'd like to approach Blood Pact a bit differently. Thus far the bulk of my posts have focused on playing a Warlock at level 80. Granted, a casual Warlock at 80, but still, my aim has been towards max level players. Aside from the obvious problem that raises of excluding lower level 'locks, this approach pointlessly limits my available subject matter. And

WoW Guide: Fishing Achievement: Deadliest Catch
I have lately had the motivation to complete achievements and do stuff I have rarely done in the past 4 years since the original WoW beta. Fishing, while I did manage to max this profession on my original priest character, I did never bother to fish again. Specially after making my Blood Elf paladin my new main character.I learned fishing on the paladin barely two or three days ago, mostly

WoW Guide: Children’s Week Achievements
I just finished the Children’s Week Achievement within some hours. The most troublesome achievement was the Battlegrounds one, and the fact I had to pay 90 gold for a ... cake. Oh wait, that was 180 gold. Forgot to summon the orphan (bangs head on the keyboard). The 310 % speed Violet Proto-Drake World Event Reward is worth it anyway. First thing I chose to do was the series of quests given by

WoW Guide: Gearing your Mage for PvP
Of all the new stuff patch 3.1 brought us, perhaps this single most significant change was the addition of dual specs. Suddenly everybody and their second cousins can tank (or think they can tank), and every Druid/Paladin/Shaman has a resto/holy spec waiting in the wings. Everybody rolls on everything in every dungeon because they're "gearing up for their second spec"...or third spec...or

WoW Guide: Noblegarden FAQ
Noblegarden 2009 should be going live on the European realms in a few hours and then start popping up on realms elsewhere over the next day. Because so much of the holiday has changed and we've fielded a lot of questions from players about what's going on, we decided to write up a quick FAQ to the new (and vastly improved!) holiday.Help! Where do I go to get started? If you're Alliance, head to

WoW Guide: 2009 Noblegarden Season Guide
It has been my first attempt at Noblegarden since seasonal events were introduced. It took a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, but I might say I have mastered it from knowing nothing of this event. Started yesterday in the evening, and I have completed most of the achievements already. Only two more to be done and claim my seasonal title. One step closer to that Violet Proto-Dragon

WoW Guide: Handling Incoming AoE as Discipline
The first week of Ulduar is almost done! For those in there, how far have you managed to go? I've found it to be a test and a challenge for not only myself, but for the crew I raid with. Thank goodness for dual spec as it's saved me both time and money for switching between different roles.I wanted to share a few tip I picked up in my experience so far as a raiding Discipline Priest. The mass

WoW Guide: Leveling gear
Jason writes in about WoW leveling gear for the playtime-challenged:Hello,As a casual WoW player, I find myself completely overwhelmed when it comes to getting gear for my Paladin. I keep hearing about greens, blues, purples...how certain equipment can get you laughed out of guilds. I'm level 55 and have never gone on a raid, and honestly never intend to. How can the average casual gamer know

Argent Tournament Dailies: A Chip Off the Ulduar Block
A Chip Off the Ulduar Block is the counterpart to Jack Me Some Lumber, which we talked about a couple of days ago. This time around we need to gather up some stone to be used in building the coliseum. It's another Goblin quest, so naturally this stone must come from the most morally questionable location possible. This time around we're plundering Titan ruins. You're sent off to the Storm Peaks

Argent Tournament Dailies: A Valiant's Field Training
This is one of the quickest and easiest dailies to complete for your Argent Tournament prestige. The questgiver asks simply that you kill 10 Scourge units in Icecrown.Remember, in 3.1 any mob that will grant you quest credit will show as much on their tooltip when you mouseover them. Use this to your advantage and don't waste your time with an AOE pack that won't give you credit!Given its close

A guide to shutting out the world of Warcraft
WoW is a very social game, and you might think that there is no getting around it. Fortunately for those who relish their alone time, there are several ways to minimize contact with other players and have some quiet time. While some people will argue that you should stop playing social games like MMORPGs, there are plenty of solo activities, and if that is what you want to do, more power to

WoW Basic Healing Guide
When you go into a group as a holy priest most people will want you to heal (unless they already have a healer). As the main healer in a group, you have the number one responsibility to keep everyone alive. Although you should keep this basic principle in mind, there are exceptions where you have to sacrifice a person in order to keep the group going and win a fight. In this guide I will try to

A video guide to faster raiding
This video is entitled "Pull! A Guide to Faster Raids," and it's been produced by Kyth, of Fusion (US-Turalyon H). Set to the backdrop of (part of) a Naxxramas speed run, the video presents some easy tips for raiding faster. It's mostly addressed towards raid leaders, but I certainly plan on bringing some of the concepts here forward in my next raid. You should watch the video - it's well made

Tips from the manual
Guynumber from Area 52 brings up a good point: why did Blizzard even bother putting game information in their original manual? Surely, they must have known that they'd be changing the game quickly, and while of course they'd have had no more idea than we had that some things so big would change (no ammunition, anyone?), they could have at least kept in mind that patches were coming.Curious, I

Tips for Strand of the Ancients and how to win it
Eye for an Eye has a great set of tips up for the Strand of the Ancients battleground. Their tips are aimed towards Ret Pallies, but they're useful for almost anyone, and especially any melee-based classes. And the general idea -- focus on the relic and getting to it, not the players attacking you or other teammates -- is great for anyone to know.I don't know what it is about Strand and

WoW Warriors: Raiding Gear
This will most likey be a multi-part series. I know next week we'll be talking about the Warrior 2008 year in review, discussing talent changes and so much more, so it may be an interrupted series. With the new raiding system (normal and heroic raids), tier gear, emblem gear and non-affiliated drops, there's a lot of gear to talk about in the raid game.Lately, in fact, I've noticed that 10 and 25
